The St. Ledger-Roty & Olson communications
practice focuses on a wide range of complex regulatory and transactional
matters, including providing strategic counsel to senior management
of both established companies and new entrants, as well as investors,
underwriters and lenders active in the field. Our areas of emphasis
include acquiring access to broadband networks to support the
distribution of new media services, applications and products;
federal initiatives to deploy and promote innovative uses of wireless
communications platforms and technologies for emerging uses, including
the smart grid, delivery of health care monitoring services, and
delivery of mobile content; identifying and gaining access to
spectrum for the development of new mobile networks (both terrestrial
and satellite-based), and the deployment of emerging distribution
technologies (such as low-power networks) and services on those
networks; and the licensing and other regulatory matters often
involved in such undertakings.
These matters take us before the Federal Communications
Commission, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration,
the Federal Trade Commission, the Departments of Justice and Homeland
Security, various other law enforcement and national security
agencies, the International Telecommunications Union, foreign
regulatory and competition agencies, as well as Congress and the
federal courts.
